This bowl came from the cut-off of a table I'm making. I was going for a tapered leg, hence the tapered shape of the bowl. While carving I burst through the bottom and added the walnut wedge to straighten the piece and add more wood to keep carving. Now the hole makes a beautiful accent to the bowl!
The beautiful mahogany grain shines a deep red under a food safe finish, making this bowl suitable for snacking or any other purpose.
This bowl measures about 7 1/4" x 2" x 2."
All items are carved by hand, with no assistance from power tools. I use only gouges and chisels to carve each bowl, making them one-of-a-kind. Check out my bolg post about this bowl to learn more about the wedge bottom!
Mahogany and Walnut Bowl
This foodgrade finish will maintiain it's beauty if handwashed only. Should the bowl lose its shine, simply rub with a little mineral oil and buff dry with a clean cotton towel.
